MISSION STATEMENT

The Old Dominion Chapter of the Association of Contingency Planners is a non-profit, mutual benefit association of public and private sector professionals responsible for, or participating in, contingency, business recovery, crisis management, emergency management or disaster recovery planning and involvement.

GOALS

  • Maintain the commitment of members to disaster recovery preparedness

  • Expand and solidify relationships within the community and state

  • Maintain a working relationship with the Virginia Department of Emergency Management

  • Offer useful information via guest speakers / field trips and provide networking opportunities during monthly meetings

  • Present a variety of interactive workshops for members during the course of the year

TAKING PRIDE IN WHAT WE OFFER

The foundation of the Old Dominion Chapter of the Association of Contingency Planners is the presentation of fact-filled, relevant monthly meetings designed to offer members a venue for improving their own knowledge and competence within the field of corporate disaster preparedness.

Because the membership within this chapter includes long-time disaster planners as well as newcomers to the profession or individuals who have inherited disaster management responsibilities in addition to their primary assignments, the meetings offer a variety of levels of knowledge.  Topics are scheduled in response to membership suggestions and requests.

In the past, guest speakers have informed members on a variety of pertinent topics including:

  • Communications Recovery
  • Damage Assessment / Rapid Response to a Disaster
  • Bomb Threats and Procedures
  • Media Management
  • Fire Prevention
  • Business Preparation and Resumption
  • Physical and Data Security
  • Hazardous Materials
  • Year 2000 impacts
  • Various Disaster Drills

Furthermore, members often share their experiences following an incident, providing valuable case studies with lessons in what was done well and what might be done differently in the future.

We would like you to join us at one of our upcoming meetings.  Please visit the "Meetings" page to learn of our next meeting date, time and location.  If you should have any questions, please feel free to contact the Chapter President.  You will find additional contact information listed on the "Officers" page.
